Position: Payroll Assistant

Location: Flintshire, North Wales

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Department: Human Resources / Payroll

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Working Hours: 08:15 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday; 08:15 - 16:00 Friday

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a detail-orientated payroll administrator to join our established payroll function, supporting employees across the UK and Ireland. This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment, where accuracy, efficiency, and meeting strict deadlines are paramount. Working closely with senior payroll colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed correctly and on time each month, delivering an excellent employee experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Assist with end-to-end preparation of monthly payroll for UK-based employees. Input and verify data, including salary adjustments, overtime, bonuses, and other variable payments; complete rigorous accuracy checks and meet all processing deadlines in a high-volume setting.
  • Time & Attendance Management: Reconcile time & attendance records, set up and maintain shift patterns, and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure correct pay calculations.
  • Employee Data & Compliance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records throughout the full employment lifecycle (starters, leavers, contractual changes). Ensure all personal and payroll data is handled with strict confidentiality and fully complies with GDPR and relevant payroll legislation.
  • Benefits & Absence Administration: Support the management of workplace pensions and employee benefits (e.g., private medical insurance). Calculate statutory absence payments, including SSP, SMP, and other statutory entitlements, in line with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Stakeholder Support: Act as the first point of contact for payroll enquiries from employees and internal teams (HR, Finance). Provide clear, timely, and helpful responses, and build strong working relationships across the business.
