A leading engineering firm is seeking a Payroll Assistant to support the Payroll Manager in a dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of payroll experience and will be responsible for the full payroll cycle, compliance, and resolving payroll queries. Job description

A superb new opportunity to join a leading engineering firm with offices across the UK. The Payroll Assistant will be supporting the Payroll Manager and be a integral person working within the wider finance team.

Contract Type: Permanent

Days/Hours: Monday to Thursday 8-5 and 8-4 on a Friday with one hour for lunch (40 hours)

What You ll Be Doing

  • Support the full payroll cycle using Miracle Pay
  • Resolve payroll queries by liaising with employees and external providers
  • Process overtime, private mileage, and lodge allowances
  • Handle statutory documents (P45s, P60s, P11Ds) and assist with year-end tasks
  • Manage statutory payments like SMP, SSP, SPP and pension deductions
  • Process Attachment of Earnings and other employee deductions
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and ensure full compliance
  • Contribute to payroll-related admin and project support

  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and Word
