Job summary

Astute Recruitment in the NG16 area is seeking a Payroll & Accounts Payable Assistant to support a busy finance function. The role covers both payroll processing and supplier invoicing, offering variety and hands-on exposure to end-to-end payroll and AP activities.

You will handle monthly payroll, resolve payroll queries, process purchase invoices and credit notes, and assist with month-end processes while maintaining high accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on payroll experience
• Experience across accounts payable and wider finance
• Good understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good Excel skills
• Excellent organisation and deadline management

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll accurately and on time
• Manage payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
• Calculate statutory payments, deductions and adjustments
• Process P11Ds and benefits where required
• Process purchase invoices and credit notes
• Match, code and authorise invoices
• Prepare and process supplier payments
• Deal with supplier queries
• Assist with month-end processes
• Support the wider finance team
