Job description

Payroll and CIS Administrator - Part time

Hours per week: 30 (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm , with 1 hour unpaid break)

Hourly rate: GBP15 p/h

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & CIS Administrator to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll for clients and managing the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) payments and reporting for subcontractors, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Duties:

  • Accurately process weekly/monthly payroll
  • Maintain employee records including starters, leavers, and changes to pay or hours.
  • Ensure all statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, Student Loans, etc.) are accurately calculated and submitted.
  • Manage Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC.
  • Process statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) in line with UK legislation.
  • Produce and distribute payslips, P45s, P60s, and year-end reports.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits as required.

CIS Duties:

  • Verify new subcontractors with HMRC and maintain accurate records.
  • Process CIS payments and deductions for subcontractors in line with HMRC regulations.
  • Submit CIS returns monthly to HMRC.
  • Issue CIS payment and deduction statements to subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC's CIS guidelines and assist in audits or investigations.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to resolve any CIS-related queries.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in payroll processing and CIS administration.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Proficient in using payroll and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
