Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is recruiting a Payroll Advisor for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Warrington. You will oversee end-to-end payrolls, pensions, and expenses, leveraging the iTrent platform to ensure accurate, on-time processing.

The role requires at least 3 years of hands-on UK payroll experience, with a focus on compliance, data integrity, and stakeholder collaboration across Finance and People teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in end-to-end UK and ROI payroll and pensions processing.
• Experience supporting change, testing new functionality and training team members.
• Strong communication and organisational skills with ability to build relationships across business areas.
• Professional qualifications in payroll are desirable (CIPP Payroll Technician or Payroll Level 3 apprenticeship).

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end weekly and monthly payrolls, pensions, and expenses.
• Manage day-to-day payroll processing and data entry on the iTrent platform.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, HMRC guidelines and audits.
• Identify opportunities to standardise and automate to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance, People, and third-party providers to support payroll operations.
• Provide support to Payroll Team Leadership to meet SLAs and KPIs.

Job description

Portfolio Payroll is working alongside a leading international provider of industrial services based in Warrington who are seeking a talented Payroll Advisor to support their end-to-end processing on a 6-month fixed-term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll & pensions: Oversee accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly payrolls, auto-enrolment, pensions, and colleague expenses.


• System management: Manage day-to-day processing and data entry utilizing the iTrent platform.


• Compliance & quality assurance: Maintain full compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements, HMRC guidelines, and audit standards.


• Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for standardisation and automation to reduce manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.


• Stakeholder collaboration: Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, partnering with Finance, People, and third-party providers.


• Operational support: Provide dedicated support to the Payroll Team Leadership while ensuring strict adherence to SLAs and KPIs.

Ideal Experience

• Proven payroll background: Minimum of 3 years of practical, hands-on experience in end-to-end UK and ROI payroll and pensions processing.


• Change & transformation skills: Experience supporting new technologies, testing new functionality, and training team members.


• Strong communication & organisation: Able to build connected relationships across business areas with clarity, context, and high integrity.


• Professional qualifications: A professional CIPP Payroll Technician qualification or a Payroll Level 3 apprenticeship is highly desirable.

Job Details

• Salary: 32,000 FTE


• Contract: 6-Month FTC


• Working Pattern: Hybrid working pattern (office-based in Warrington with remote flexibility)
