Job summary

SSE PLC is seeking a Payroll Administrator to support accurate UK payroll delivery from our Perth office. The role involves processing weekly and monthly payroll transactions, maintaining records, and providing a responsive service to internal and external stakeholders.

You will work in a collaborative team, contribute to continuous improvement, and help ensure colleagues are paid correctly and on time. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with flexible options and a 50% Perth office

Qualifications

  • Experience working in payroll or a similar environment with a focus on accuracy.
  • Comfort with numbers and payroll systems, including Excel.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as Oracle Payroll is beneficial.
  • Organised and methodical with ability to manage deadlines calmly.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and monthly payroll transactions accurately, meeting deadlines and ensuring colleagues are paid on time.
  • Build relationships with HR teams to resolve payroll queries promptly.
  • Provide high levels of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance processes.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring compliance with processes and controls.

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Perth office

Salary: £30,684 - £36,666 +a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern:12 month Fixed Term Contract| full time | Flexible First options available

The role

As a Payroll Administrator, you'll play an important role in supporting the smooth and accurate delivery of our UK payroll. Working as part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll help ensure colleagues are paid correctly and on time, while providing a reliable and responsive service to both internal and external stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a team that values accuracy, continuous improvement, and working together to make processes more efficient and effective.

You will
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll transactions accurately, ensuring deadlines are met and colleagues are paid on time.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and HR teams to resolve payroll queries in a timely and supportive way.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and ways of working.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring compliance with relevant processes and controls.
You have
  • Experience working in payroll or a similar environment, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with numbers and systems, including Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel).
  • Experience using payroll and expenses systems (Oracle Payroll experience would be beneficial).
  • A well-organised and methodical approach, with the ability to manage deadlines calmly and effectively.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a commitment to providing supportive and high-quality customer service
