Job summary

Clear Street is seeking a Software Engineer to scale and modernise our global payments infrastructure. You’ll build API-driven systems that integrate with banks and gateways, streamline workflows, and support new business lines.

You’ll work with cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact solutions that improve payment experiences for institutional clients. Join a team of engineers building a cloud-native platform with modern technologies.

Qualifications

• Master Java and Spring Boot with ability to tweak TypeScript/React, Go, and Python.
• Proven track record of driving technical decisions and owning large-scale engineering problems end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience building scalable architectures using Kafka and Kubernetes for robust integrations.
• Solid understanding of global payment ecosystems and external banking APIs.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, distributed systems, and automated testing strategies.
• Ability to actively manage technical debt and negotiate requirements for reliable solutions.
• Advocate for better tooling and push engineering practices forward.
• Highly collaborative mindset for solving complex architectural challenges.

Responsibilities

• Engineer reliable, API-driven payment systems supporting global expansion.
• Translate requirements into clean, maintainable, well-tested components.
• Collaborate with product, business, design, and backend teams to deliver high-quality experiences.
• Identify and resolve performance, accessibility, and usability issues across the app.
• Contribute to code reviews and shared component libraries, upholding engineering standards.
• Maintain operational health of features and help maintain a high SLA.
