Confidential in London is seeking a Payments Officer to support day‑to‑day operations within the Payments team. The role focuses on processing payments, handling customer enquiries, verification checks, and maintaining strong controls to meet regulatory deadlines.

You will assist with fraud handling, visa scheme reconciliations, and provide regular MI to the department head, with cover for senior staff during absences. This is a 6‑month contract to start.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in banking operations or payments processing.
• Knowledge of FPS, CHAPS, BACS, internal transfers, and payment investigations.
• Understanding of payment controls and callback procedures.
• Experience handling operational enquiries and escalations.
• Strong understanding of banking operational risk and controls.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Aufgaben

• Resolve payment exceptions, rejections, and discrepancies with high accuracy.
• Manage customer and internal enquiries, conduct investigations, document outcomes.
• Provide daily liquidity figures of incoming and outgoing payments to Treasury to support funding decisions.
• Perform callback verification for manual payment instructions, cheques and beneficiary changes.
• Handle APP fraud cases, including assessment, transaction analysis, recovery attempts, and liaison with Fraud teams.
• Reconcile daily Visa scheme entries, including settlement files, chargebacks, fees, and adjustments, and investigate discrepancies.
• Process CASS switching requests and resolve issues with customers and counterparties.
• Coordinate with outsourced teams and support process improvements, system testing, and team workload management.
• Provide monthly MI and any other information as requested by the department head.
