The University raised 100,000 purchase orders, paid 111,000 supplier invoices, and processed 26,000 reimbursement claims in the last financial year.

This post is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, customer focussed person to join our busy payments team. The successful candidate must have significant working knowledge and experience of processes within a finance environment such as expenses, purchasing and payments, ideally combined with a working knowledge of facilitating payments runs both domestic and international. Experience of working with a finance system, i.e., Business World, particularly in reporting, data extraction and analysis for business planning purposes is desirable.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate working effectively with high volumes of transactions under tight timescales and have a proven track record of delivering significant business process improvements. Previous supervisory experience is essential. Good IT skills including the Microsoft Office package are required, and experience using Business World, or a similar finance software package is preferred.

The University offers an excellent employment package, which includes generous annual leave of up to 24 days annual leave (after a qualifying period) plus 8 bank holidays and 6 additional University closure days (pro rata entitlement for part time staff), a pension scheme, Highfield-site sports, arts and culture facilities and a wide range of discounts from national and international shops and services.

We are committed to building an inclusive and diverse culture at the University and creating an environment where people can balance successful careers with their commitments and interests outside of work. Our flexible working practices, including a hybrid working model, where employees can split their working time between the office and home, support our belief that this balance brings long-lasting benefits for our institution as well as our people.

We believe equality and diversity are fundamental to making the University of Southampton a vibrant, proud, and successful organisation. A diverse workforce, with people from different racial, educational, and social backgrounds and a range of ages, opens a wealth of possibilities for Southampton
