Job summary

Digital Science is seeking a Payment Platform Manager to own the B2C payments ecosystem end-to-end, focusing on Stripe and adjacent platforms. You will act as internal product owner, drive optimization and conversion, manage payment risk and compliance, and develop commercial relationships with Stripe and other vendors.

Based in London or nearby, you’ll join a team that values innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, with occasional office visits twice per month to collaborate

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in payment operations, e-commerce, or fintech.
• Deep working expertise with Stripe, including Billing, Radar, and Sigma (or equivalent payment platform tooling).
• Data-driven, with working proficiency in SQL and BI/analytics tools.
• Technically fluent and operationally rigorous, comfortable working with engineering and product teams on payment integrations.
• Strong communicator, able to translate payment performance into clear commercial and financial narratives.

Responsibilities

• Act as internal product owner for Stripe, Recurly, and PayPal — and as Digital Science's primary point of contact for Stripe.
• Document and maintain standard operating procedures — for payment platform configuration, integrations, and change management.
• Monitor and improve checkout authorisation rates and overall payment conversion.
• Lead the rollout of Alternative Payment Methods — (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay, UPI, Pix) to widen coverage and improve conversion in relevant markets.
• Own retry and dunning logic for failed payments — and support foreign exchange strategy for cross-border payment flows.
• Manage dispute and chargeback processes — and configure and monitor fraud tooling (e.g. Stripe Radar, 3D Secure) to balance fraud prevention with conversion.
• Own PCI-DSS compliance for payment processing — and triage and resolve causes of conversion drop-off.
• Own and develop the commercial relationship with Stripe and other payment vendors — including contract and pricing discussions.
• Build cost-benefit analyses for payment infrastructure decisions — such as the business case for an EU Stripe instance.
• Partner with Revenue Operations, Product, and B2C Commercial teams — to align payment strategy with commercial and product priorities.
• Provide payment analytics and reporting — to Finance Business Partnering and B2C leadership to support decision-making.
• Act as project owner for the phased extension of payment platform ownership — across Recurly, PayPal, and any adjacent B2B payment adjacencies as they arise.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities — within payment operations.

Your new roleWe are looking for a Payment Platform Manager to own Digital Science's B2C payments ecosystem end-to-end — Stripe in particular, alongside adjacent platforms such as Recurly and PayPal — acting as internal product owner for payment processing, driving optimisation and conversion improvements, managing payment risk and compliance, and developing the commercial relationship with Stripe and other payment vendors.

For this role, we’d specifically need someone based in or close to London, so they can come into the office around twice a month.

What you’ll be doing

• Checkout authorisation rates and overall payment conversion improved against baseline, contributing to the targeted 1%+ uplift in B2C payment volume.
• Alternative Payment Methods rolled out to plan in target markets, with adoption and conversion tracked and reported.
• Disputes, chargebacks and fraud managed within agreed risk tolerances, with PCI-DSS compliance maintained at all times.
• Stripe and other payment vendor relationships (contract, pricing) actively managed, with cost-benefit analyses delivered to support infrastructure decisions.
• Payment analytics and reporting delivered accurately and on schedule to Finance Business Partnering and B2C leadership.

What you’ll bring to the role
