Job summary

The Head of Patrons at the British Museum leads the Patrons programme, shaping strategy and operations to grow engagement, membership and income from a donor base of over 200 supporters. You will partner with senior colleagues to align philanthropy with the Museum’s ambitions.

This role requires a seasoned fundraising professional with a track record of face-to-face asks, donor cultivation and managing a substantial pipeline.

Qualifications

• You will be an experienced fundraising or relationship management professional with a strong track record of working with patrons, major donors or high value clients.
• You will be a confident and persuasive communicator with good judgement and a commercially minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Patrons programme to grow membership, engagement and income.
• Build and deepen relationships with Patrons and prospective supporters for long-term engagement.
• Grow the programme using insight and performance data to identify opportunities and drive results.
• Identify and cultivate Patrons with potential to become major donors.
• Lead and develop the Patrons team and collaborate with senior volunteers and colleagues.
• Shape and oversee cultivation and stewardship, including events and international travel.
