Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Patient Flow Co-ordinator for the Medical Assessment Unit. The role focuses on coordinating admissions, transfers and discharges to ensure safe, timely patient movement and improved patient experience.

You will work Monday to Friday in a daytime role, supporting the Nurse in Charge and the MDT, while maintaining accurate patient records and promoting dignity and compassionate care within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience in hospital or care settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Nurse in Charge with patient flow, capacity, and operational coordination in MAU.
• Manage admissions, transfers and discharges to ensure timely patient movement.
• Escalate delays, risks and capacity issues in real time.
• Liaise with bed managers, wards and MDT to secure beds and support placement.
• Update and maintain patient tracking systems and records accurately.
• Prioritise patients based on clinical and operational needs, escalating when required.
• Follow up delays impacting flow such as diagnostics and referrals.
