Job summary

The Pathology Quality Lead will support the North Kent Pathology Service (NKPS) and aligned Dartford and Gravesham Pathology services, including Point of Care Testing (PoCT), by developing and maintaining the Quality Management Systems (QMS), overseeing quality systems, pathways, and addressing quality and risk aspects within Operational Pathology.

The Quality Lead will collaborate closely with the Laboratory Management Team and nominated discipline Quality Leads to ensure that NKPS complies with current and future regulatory and accreditation standards. Key external bodies include UKAS, MHRA, and CQC.

Modern quality management methods are essential for effective Pathology services, underpinning clinical governance, health and safety, and risk management. Quality is central to the delivery of Pathology services.

Main duties include supporting the development of the quality management system, promoting a culture of excellence, and encouraging staff engagement with quality processes.

• Qualified Biomedical Scientist, Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science, or MSc
• Registered with the HCPC
• Evidence of Quality Management training
• Knowledge of quality management software
• In-depth knowledge of Pathology quality management systems, ISO 15189:2012 and 2022 standards, clinical governance, and risk management

Desirable

• Awareness of legislation impacting quality systems
