Job summary

The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College London invites applications for a Research Associate to develop novel methods for pathogen genomic epidemiology. The post is funded by a Wellcome Early-Career Award and will be based at White City Campus in a hybrid setup.

You will apply statistical and computational methods to characterize transmission from pathogen genomes, focusing on seasonal influenza with potential to extend to other pathogens.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative discipline or equivalent research/industrial experience.
• Experience developing mathematical and/or statistical approaches to biological questions.
• Advanced programming skills in R and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply statistical and computational methods to characterize infectious disease transmission from pathogen genomic data.
• Focus on seasonal influenza; explore extensions to other pathogens.
• Balance method development, simulations and data analysis per applicant's interests and experience.
