You will manage drafting, prosecution and portfolio strategy while expanding client relationships and driving growth with senior leadership support. A transferable client base is highly valued.

• Fully qualified Patent Attorney.

Due to sustained strategic growth, they are seeking an accomplished Qualified Patent Attorney to join their well-established Chemistry & Life Sciences practice.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Senior Associate ready for partnership.

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, expanding key client relationships, and contributing directly to the commercial expansion and strategic direction of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical & Practice Leadership: Manage a sophisticated, diverse portfolio encompassing patent drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, and high-level strategic advisory work.
• Client Relationship Management: Act as a trusted advisor, building, nurturing, and maintaining robust, long-term relationships with leading corporate, SME, and academic innovators.
• Business Development & Growth: Leverage your professional network and commercial acumen to expand the firm’s market footprint and drive client retention strategies.
• Strategic Input: Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape practice development, mentor junior team members, and execute regional growth initiatives.

Key Requirements & Qualifications:

Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified Patent Attorney.

Technical Background: Specialisation within Chemistry, Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, or closely related scientific disciplines (candidates from alternative technical backgrounds with strong, relevant portfolios are also encouraged to apply).

Career Level: Currently operating at Salaried Partner level, or a high-performing Senior Associate poised for immediate progression to Partnership.

Commercial Track Record:

• An established, transferable book of business, OR
• A proven, demonstrable track record in business development, client stewardship, and expanding commercial client relationships (where restrictive covenants apply).

Personal Attributes: Highly articulate, commercially driven, and ambitious, possessing strong leadership potential and exceptional communication skills.
