This role will be based at our stunning campus in Central Cambridge, our vibrant head office in the UK. We are seeking a Patent Attorney with experience in drafting and prosecution of biologic products to join our Global IP team and help turn those ideas into reality. This is a great opportunity to join a world-class in-house IP team in a leading biopharmaceutical company, playing a vital role in protecting AstraZeneca’s pipeline.

Accountabilities:

As a Patent Attorney, you will identify and manage all associated IP risks for your project, presenting them to IP, legal, and business teams. You will craft strategies for filing, prosecution, maintenance, and defense of patents against third-party challenges. You may also work on business development deals or coordinate responses to legal changes in specific regions. Managing external spend to meet budget targets will also be part of your role.

Minimum Requirements:

• Fully qualified European Patent Attorney with experience handling pharmaceutical patent portfolios.
• Excellent degree or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry, or biological sciences.
• Strong core biologics/antibody patent prosecution skills, capable of leading patent dockets and portfolios across multiple markets.
• At least three years of relevant experience in life science patent prosecution with global portfolios.
• Experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in leading external service providers and some in-house and law firm experience preferred.
• First-hand experience of IP-related litigation.
• High integrity, motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and evolving priorities effectively.
• Leadership qualities to act as an enterprise leader within the organization.
