Job summary

HCLTech in London is hiring for a Patch Management Analyst to coordinate and execute network device patching across Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and Palo Alto environments. You will verify backups, manage maintenance windows, and monitor health post-patch in a hybrid London setting.

The role requires 2 years in network operations/NOC, understanding of networking fundamentals, and experience with patching runbooks. CCNA/Network+ and ITIL 4 Foundation are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2 years in network operations/NOC
  • Familiar with networking fundamentals (OSI model, IP addressing, VLANs, routing)
  • Familiar with Cisco IOS CLI (show version, copy, reload)
  • Aware of device backup processes (TFTP/SCP)
  • Basic knowledge of network management systems (SolarWinds, CiscoWorks)
  • Able to follow patching runbooks
  • Understand ITSM change management & maintenance windows
  • Able to follow change procedures without deviation
  • Clear communication to coordinate maintenance windows with NOC & app teams
  • Comfortable with shift/on-call including nights and weekends
  • CCNA preferred
  • CompTIA Network+ preferred
  • ITIL 4 Foundation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track network device firmware/software patching (Cisco IOS/IOS-XE, Juniper JunOS, Aruba, Palo Alto) per change records
  • Perform pre-patch tasks: verify backups, confirm maintenance window communications, validate access
  • Execute standard patching steps (upload image, verify MD5/SHA, schedule reload) under L2
  • Monitor device health post-patching: interface states, routing table, connectivity
  • Log patch activity in ITSM tickets (ServiceNow / Remedy)
  • Maintain firmware inventory and flag outdated devices
  • Communicate maintenance windows to stakeholders and NOC
  • Escalate failures or disruptions to L2
  • Assist in generating weekly patch compliance reports for network estate

Job description

Salary: £30,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:
  • 2 years in network operations / NOC experience
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals: OSI model, IP addressing, VLANs, routing basics

  • Basic knowledge of network management systems (SolarWinds, CiscoWorks, or similar)
  • Ability to follow detailed step-by-step patching runbooks
  • Understanding of ITSM change management and maintenance window concepts
  • Accurate and methodical, capable of following change procedures without deviation
  • Clear communication for co-ordinating maintenance windows with NOC and application teams
  • Comfortable working in shift / on-call environments including nights and weekends
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred
  • CompTIA Network+ preferred
  • ITIL 4 Foundation preferred
