Job summary

Ardencote is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Ardencote Manor | Hiddenwell Luxury Wellness Retreat. The role is full-time and permanent with a salary of £34,000 per year, starting mid-November 2026.

You will work closely with the Pastry Head Chef, Head Chef and Executive Chef to drive high-quality pastries, desserts and delicacies while supporting and developing your team in a busy kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Must be passionate about pastry and high standards.
• Organised, dependable and responsible when senior chefs are out.
• Enjoys working in a supportive kitchen team to deliver exceptional food.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support pastry team; supervise and train as needed.
• Ensure every pastry and dessert meets quality standards and supports menu ideas.
• Assist with ordering, stock control and monthly stock takes to minimise waste.
• Support rota planning and shift coverage to meet business needs.
• Set high standards for presentation, cleanliness and teamwork on each shift.
• Communicate with Head Chefs and managers to ensure smooth operation.
