This thriving secondary school in Blackpool, Lancashire, is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Pastoral Support Worker to join our dedicated student support team.

In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work directly with students, offering guidance, a listening ear, and practical strategies to overcome challenges and promote their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to students experiencing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and key point of contact.
  • Proactively identify students who may benefit from early intervention and pastoral support.
  • Implement and monitor support plans in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to initiatives that promote positive behaviour, improve attendance, and enhance student well-being across the school.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and support provided.
  • Support the wider pastoral team with various tasks and contribute to the overall positive ethos of the school.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Are passionate about working with secondary school-aged children and have a strong commitment to their welfare.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Are empathetic, patient, and resilient, with a calm and professional approach.
  • Have experience working with young people in a supportive role (e.g., youth work, mentoring, education support - desirable).
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • Are well-organised, proactive, and able to manage their workload effectively.
  • Possess good IT literacy and administrative skills.
