Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Darlington from September. You will support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural needs, helping them feel safe, confident, and settled in the school day.

The role involves working with individuals or small groups, building positive relationships, and collaborating with teachers to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Flexible full-time/part-time hours offered.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school, childcare, youth work, mentoring or support environment
  • Experience supporting children with social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs would be beneficial
  • A warm, patient, and understanding approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to develop positive and professional relationships with children
  • Confidence supporting children who may display challenging behaviour or require additional encouragement
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
  • Must live locally to Stockton - relocation is not available

Hours: 08:30-15:30, Monday - Friday (full-time and part-time opportunities available)

Pay: £107.71 per day

Are you approachable, supportive, and passionate about helping children feel confident and settled in school? Milk Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Darlington that is looking for a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join their team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference to children's day-to-day school experience. You will provide encouragement and guidance to pupils who may need additional emotional, social, or behavioural support, helping them overcome challenges and become more confident learners.

Pastoral Support Worker – Role Overview

In this role, you will work with pupils who may require additional pastoral support throughout the school day. You will build trusting relationships with children, helping them manage emotions, develop social skills, improve their behaviour, and feel more confident within the school environment.

You may provide individual support as well as working with small groups of pupils, helping children develop independence, resilience, communication skills, and positive attitudes towards school.

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

The role would be particularly well suited to candidates with experience in primary education, childcare, youth work, pastoral support, mentoring, or similar settings.
