Job summary

Monkton Wood Academy is seeking a Pastoral Support Lead to foster identity and community and provide a high level of care to all students. The role focuses on promoting engagement, behaviour, and attitudes across a group while monitoring academic and social development.

The post is permanent, term time only plus inset days, with 37 hours per week, and a provisional start date of 2 November 2026. This is an opportunity to support vulnerable learners and contribute to school improvement.

Job description

Job Title: Pastoral Support Lead

Actual Annual Salary: £35,072 - £37,417 (Based on hours and working weeks)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £40,958 - £43,697 (CLF Grade F). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent, term time only plus inset days

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Provisional Start Date: 2 November 2026

Your opportunity to create and sense of 'identity and community' and provide a high level of care to all students.

We are looking for a Pastoral Support Lead to work proactively and preventatively to ensure students are supported to achieve and progress in their education.

You will promote the highest standards of engagement, behaviour, conduct and attitudes in all students in the group. You will monitor and support academic and social development across the group, undertaking interventions where appropriate to support the most vulnerable learners.

About you:
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues relevant to Inclusion and Raising Achievement.
  • An understanding of the needs and values of different communities, in particular the different cultures the academy serves.
  • Successful experience in a secondary school or working with young people with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to make effective use of assessment information on students’ attainment.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, organise and prioritise workloads and work proactively to ensure objectives are fulfilled.
  • Respect for the professional expertise of others.
  • Have the emotional resilience to handle difficult and challenging situations.
