Job summary

Monkton Wood Academy is seeking a Pastoral Support Lead to foster identity and community and provide a high level of care to all students. The role focuses on promoting engagement, behaviour, and attitudes across a group while monitoring academic and social development.

The post is permanent, term time only plus inset days, with 37 hours per week, and a provisional start date of 2 November 2026. This is an opportunity to support vulnerable learners and contribute to school improvement.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of Inclusion and Raising Achievement.
  • Understanding of the needs and values of diverse communities.
  • Experience in a secondary school or working with young people with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to use assessment information on student attainment.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workloads.
  • Respect for professional expertise of others.
  • Emotional resilience to handle challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote high standards of engagement, behaviour, conduct and attitudes in all students.
  • Monitor and support academic and social development across the group.
  • Undertake interventions to support vulnerable learners.
  • Work proactively to prevent issues and support progression.
