Job summary

Horizon Teachers is seeking a caring Pastoral Officer to join a well-regarded secondary school in Ashford, Surrey on a part-time, fixed-term basis. The role focuses on student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement, working closely with the pastoral team.

You will support students using a calm, consistent approach, liaise with parents and tutors, and contribute to a positive school environment. An enhanced DBS on the update service is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Experience in a pastoral, behaviour support, or student welfare role.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.
• Strong relationship-building with students, families and staff.
• Organised, reliable and discreet with sensitive information.
• Enhanced DBS on update service (or willingness to obtain).
• QTS or equivalent (or teaching status).

Responsibilities

Horizon Teachers is looking for a caring, resilient Pastoral Officer to join a well-regarded secondary school in Ashford, Surrey on a part-time basis. This is a rewarding role supporting students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement, working closely with the pastoral team.

The role:

• Pastoral Officer, secondary school setting
• Part-time, 3 days a week (Wednesday to Friday)
• Supporting students with wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement
• Liaising with parents/carers, form tutors and the wider pastoral team
• Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience in a pastoral, behaviour support, or student welfare role, ideally in a secondary school
• Is confident managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
• Builds positive relationships quickly with students, families and staff
• Is organised, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or is willing to obtain one)
