Job summary

Kirklees College is seeking a Pastoral Mentor – Construction to support students at Brunel Construction centre, with occasional travel to the Springfield Centre at Dewsbury. You will provide 1:1 coaching and small-group support to boost personal development, wellbeing and progression, focusing on safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Ideally you hold a Level 3 qualification (BTEC/NVQ/ALevel) and Level 2 English/Maths, with experience engaging 14–19 year olds.

Qualifications

Level 3 qualification such as BTEC, NVQ or ALevel required.
Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent ability.
Experience with 14-19 year olds in an educational setting.
Strong coaching, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 reviews, targeted interventions and pastoral coaching.
Support students identified as 'at risk' to overcome barriers.
Lead safeguarding disclosures for a defined caseload and coordinate follow-up.
Support attendance and punctuality monitoring and address issues promptly.
Facilitate restorative practice interventions with learners.
Collaborate with curriculum teams, SEND, Safeguarding, Work Placement Officers and others.
