Job summary

E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy in Oldham is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Manager to support students’ wellbeing, attendance and behaviour within a caring, inclusive environment.

You will work with families, staff and external agencies to remove barriers to learning, champion safeguarding, and help every student reach their full potential.

The role requires resilience, collaboration and a steadfast commitment to equity, with a strong focus on pupil outcomes and safeguarding as core priorities.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English/Maths grade C/4 or above or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting children/youth in educational settings.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication with students, families, staff and external agencies.
  • Ability to work in an inclusive safeguarding team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted pastoral support to students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Work with families to improve attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and engagement.
  • Support students through challenging life events, including transitions and bereavement.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies to secure outcomes for students.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, emotional wellbeing and social inclusion.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted pastoral support to students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with families to improve attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Support students through challenging life events, including transitions, bereavement, family change and friendship difficulties.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, emotional wellbeing and social inclusion throughout the academy.

Pay range: £29,639.07 - £33,615.28 - FTE: £33,699.00 - £38,220.00 - 37 hours per week - 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Educated to a high standard, including GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Experience of supporting children and young people within an educational or learning environment.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection procedures and pastoral care.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider inclusion and safeguarding team.
  • Positive, personable and committed to improving outcomes for young people
