Job summary

Supply Heroes are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and highly inclusive Primary School in Alum Rock, Birmingham, for Learning Mentors (Welfare Practitioners) to join their pastoral support team on a full-time basis. You will provide pastoral mentoring, support welfare, attendance and safeguarding, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The role emphasizes building positive relationships with pupils, families and staff, working with teachers and external agencies to promote wellbeing

Qualifications

• Must have experience working in a UK primary school supporting pupils (Essential).
• Experience supporting children0welfare or pastoral needs (Essential).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Essential).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children (Essential).
• Desirable: DBS Update Service certificate, 1+ year UK primary school experience, safeguarding knowledge (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral and mentoring support to primary-aged pupils.
• Support pupils with personal, social, emotional and academic development.
• Help identify and remove barriers to learning.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, carers and external agencies.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement across the school.
• Support attendance initiatives and pupil wellbeing.
• Assist with safeguarding and welfare provision.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to support plans and interventions.
