Job summary

Brookthorpe Hall School, part of Options Autism within Outcomes First Group, seeks a Pastoral Assistant to support pupils with autism and SEMH needs, fostering a safe and nurturing environment. You will collaborate with the Pastoral Support Team to promote positive behaviour and help pupils overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing.

You will work with families, therapists and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the support they need, with safeguarding at the heart of your role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Experience working with pupils in education, care or support settings.
  • Understanding of autism and SEMH.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral support, guidance and encouragement to pupils.
  • Support pupils to develop positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff, therapists, families and external professionals.
  • Record and maintain relevant educational, social and behavioural information.
  • Contribute to wellbeing strategies across the school.
  • Assist with day-to-day organisation of the school.
  • Support personal development and progress of pupils.
  • Contribute to the wider life and community of the school.
  • Promote safeguarding at all times.
