Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a caring Pastoral Assistant to work in a Wirral secondary school. The role focuses on student wellbeing, promoting positive behaviour and helping learners overcome barriers to progress.

The successful candidate will provide pastoral support, build strong relationships with students, work with the pastoral and SEN teams, monitor attendance and support safeguarding and overall wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school or similar setting.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, approachable, resilient and able to manage challenging behaviour.
• Calm under pressure with a positive, consistent approach.
• Passionate about helping young people reach their potential.
• Understanding safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
• Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted and approachable member of staff.
• Support behaviour management and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Work closely with teaching staff, the pastoral team and SEN staff to support students' individual needs.
• Help monitor attendance, punctuality and student engagement.
• Support students in developing confidence, resilience and positive social skills.
• Assist with resolving conflicts and managing challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure students' wellbeing remains a priority.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting students' wellbeing, encouraging positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.

The Role

Experience in pastoral support, youth work, behaviour management, mentoring or SEN would be advantageous.
