Join Our Pastoral Team

Salford City Academy is seeking an exceptional Pastoral Administrator to join our dedicated pastoral team at an exciting point in our journey.

This is not simply about appointing the most experienced candidate. It is about finding the right person. After 19 years at Salford City Academy, our Principal remains convinced of one thing above all else: character matters more than experience. Experience can be developed. Character shapes culture builds trust and leaves a lasting legacy.

We are looking for a leader whose values align with ours, who understands the power of culture and who is excited by the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a successful school.

In 2025/26, we secured the strongest 5+ outcomes in our history. Our recent Ofsted inspection recognised the strength of our Personal Development provision. Our students are ambitious, our culture is strong and our staff are united by a shared belief that every young person deserves the very best.

We are proud of these achievements, but ambitious enough to know there is more to accomplish.

At Salford City Academy, we recognise that strong pastoral systems are essential to student success. Behind every improvement in attendance, behaviour and wellbeing is a dedicated team of professionals who ensure that students and families receive the right support at the right time.

We are seeking a highly organised and compassionate Pastoral Administrator to join our pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and families while providing the administrative support that enables effective pastoral care across the academy.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting attendance, behaviour and safeguarding processes, maintaining accurate records, communicating with families and external agencies, and ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of relationships, attention to detail and professionalism. Someone who can balance administrative responsibilities with a genuine commitment to supporting young people and their families.

As a Pastoral Administrator, you will become part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together, supports one another and shares a collective ambition to achieve exceptional outcomes for all students. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day by helping to create an environment where young people feel safe, supported and able to succeed.

We also recognise that successful colleagues are people first. Whilst we work incredibly hard and hold high expectations, we understand that life extends beyond work. Family commitments, celebrations and important life events matter. We are committed to creating an environment where colleagues can have both successful careers and fulfilling lives. Every colleague benefits from a paid personal day each year, providing the opportunity to take a term-time day that matters to them.

This is more than an administrative role. It is an opportunity to support young people, work alongside exceptional colleagues and contribute to a culture built on high expectations, consistency, care and belonging.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

We recognise that great colleagues come from different backgrounds and bring different experiences. Whilst the formal requirements of the role are outlined elsewhere in this pack, we are particularly interested in the person behind the application.

The successful candidate will:

  • Put students at the heart of everything they do.
  • Be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Be resilient, calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Show empathy and understanding whilst maintaining high expectations.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a wider pastoral team.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Take pride in supporting students to succeed both academically and personally.

We know that research shows many talented candidates are less likely to apply unless they meet every requirement listed in a person specification. If this role excites you and you believe you have the qualities to make a significant contribution to our school, we encourage you to apply.

Above all, we are looking for someone whose values align with ours, someone who will embrace our culture, champion our students and become a valued member of a team united by purpose, ambition and care for one another.

Our View

Experience is important, but attitude, commitment and character matter most.

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable, willing to learn and passionate about supporting young people. Someone who takes pride in providing excellent administrative support whilst contributing positively to the wider life of the academy.

This is not simply about filling a vacancy.

It is about finding the right person, someone who will thrive here, contribute to our culture and help ensure that every student receives the support they need to achieve their potential.

Salford City Academy - Academic Excellence. Extraordinary Character.
