Job summary

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council is seeking an experienced Transport Officer to join the Corporate Passenger Transport Unit. You will help manage contracted passenger transport services, ensuring safety, value for money and compliance with policies and service specifications.

You will liaise with schools, operators, and council departments, monitor performance, and support procurement and risk assessments. Welsh language ability is preferred and driving is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 4 in Transport or equivalent, or 4+ years in transport.
• Experience in passenger transport operations and policy compliance.
• Experience with contractors and monitoring service delivery.
• Experience with stakeholders including the public.
• Good understanding of Local Government procedures and policies.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong financial control and resource management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contracted passenger transport services for policy and contract compliance.
• Manage day-to-day operational issues with contractors and stakeholders.
• Carry out contractor monitoring, visits and surveys, address issues.
• Support budget management and value for money delivery.
• Assist in passenger transport procurement and contract management.
• Coordinate Home to School Transport risk assessments and safeguarding.
• Coordinate additional learning needs and Looked After Children transport needs.
• Respond to customer enquiries and resolve operational issues.
• Collaborate with Learning Services, Social Services, schools and partners.
• Provide concessionary travel support and timetable information.
• Arrange learner transport, including short-term needs; report to senior management.
