Job summary

Coventry City Council’s Passenger Transport Services (PTS) is recruiting for part‑time roles to transport vulnerable passengers across Coventry. The job involves manual handling of large wheelchairs, managing challenging behaviours, and ensuring continuity by keeping the same driver and passenger assistant on each vehicle.

roles are 15 hours per week, split as 1.5 hours in morning and afternoon, term‑time only. DBS check applies; Right to Work in the UK is required.

Passenger Transport Services (PTS) Coventry, is responsible for delivering transport services to approximately 1200 passengers daily, to schools and day care centres with special educational needs and/or physical and/or sensory impairments. PTS have a team of over 180 staff from casual to F/T, supporting the service with 80 accessible minibus-type vehicles. The positions being recruited are on a split shift basis and there will be a need for successful candidates to work in the morning and afternoon with a break in between.

What is the job role?

The job involves providing transportation for some of our most vulnerable people across Coventry. This can involve manual handling large wheelchairs and loading them on and off the minibuses. You will be dealing with a range of challenging behaviours potentially daily. Continuity is a vital part of the service we provide and we endeavour to keep the same driver and passenger assistant on the vehicle.

  • Complete all paperwork as requested.
  • Be punctual, adaptable and reliable.

These roles are 15 hours a week working 3 hours a day which includes a split shift of 1.5 hours in the morning and afternoon. These roles are term-time only. If you cannot adhere to these shifts please do not apply.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
