Please note - this is a fully remote, part-time, voluntary unpaid position. Hours are flexible, including evenings and weekends, from 3-6 hours per week, to be confirmed at interview.

Overview:

The International Youth Federation (IYF) is an international non-profit youth network governed by its Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is politically neutral and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide.

The IYF NGO Accreditation Center (NAC) works to promote excellence in youth-led organizations globally and recognize community achievements towards empowered communities. NAC is governed by the IYF International Relations Commission, which oversees all matters related to the IYF Accreditation Programmes.

Under the guidance of the NAC Director, the Communications Specialist supports internal communications within the unit and promotes the center's work across global media, multimedia, and social media platforms. Responsibilities include coordinating communication tasks, drafting and editing materials, and developing global campaigns in collaboration with relevant departments.

Mission:

To voluntarily represent, promote, and uphold the mission of “Empowering youth for a better world” through various programs and opportunities across IYF interventions worldwide.

Responsibilities:

(A) Strategic advocacy and partnerships support:

  • Identify relevant stakeholders to build and expand a network of champions, creating it systematically.
  • Develop and implement outreach and advocacy strategies to achieve the IYF Partner Network goals with key decision-makers, partners, and the public.
  • Monitor emerging opportunities, social and political factors, and identify strategic needs relevant to the network’s mandate.
  • Lead the development and execution of the network’s partnership and communication strategies.
  • Establish strategic partnership frameworks with global and regional youth development actors (private sector, civil society, think tanks, philanthropies, academia) to support IYF’s accredited NGOs.

(B) Support marketing and communication efforts:

  • Promote the network’s work using blogs, newsletters, and success stories.
  • Create materials and knowledge products to ensure effective network functioning.
  • Curate learning content and facilitate knowledge sharing within the network.
  • Manage content about the network on the website and social media platforms.
  • Update the IYF Partner Network website with engaging stories, collaborating with the ICT Support Unit.
  • Map network activities in youth development areas (governance, innovation, digitalization, environment, inclusiveness) with high social media traffic and suggest online content sharing opportunities.
  • Provide partnership-building advisory support as needed.

Additional skills include leadership, strategic planning, results-based management, and excellent digital communication skills.

Skills Required:
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate effectively with diverse communities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Quick, accurate situation assessment and evaluation skills.
Experience:

At least five years in partnerships, stakeholder management, program management, youth empowerment, communications, international relations, youth studies, sport, women empowerment, or related fields preferred.

Assessment:

Qualified candidates may undergo an assessment exercise followed by a competency-based interview.

Language:

Fluency in English with excellent drafting skills is essential.
