Job description
About Our Client / The Business We Are Partnered With

We are partnered with a well-established, London-based SME cost consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial advice across private-sector development, prime residential, commercial offices, mixed-use schemes and select public-sector programmes. The firm has grown steadily through repeat clients, personal relationships and a reputation for rigour, transparency and senior-level engagement on every commission.

Operating with a boutique, partner-led delivery model, the business provides a level of attention, flexibility and commercial insight that differentiates it from larger corporate consultancies. Their clients include developers, family offices, asset managers and architects seeking a trusted cost advisor capable of supporting complex, design-led and commercially sensitive projects across London and the South East.

With a robust pipeline and strategic growth ambitions, the consultancy is strengthening its leadership structure to support increased demand for senior-level advisory and project oversight.

The Opportunity

The business is seeking an accomplished Partner to join its London leadership team and play a central role in driving project excellence, managing key client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the practice. This is a rare opportunity within an SME environment—offering genuine influence, autonomy and a clear pathway toward equity participation.

The role suits a commercially aware, relationship-driven leader who enjoys a hands‑on, client‑facing role while contributing to the strategic direction, operational performance and long-term development of the consultancy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level commercial and cost leadership across a diverse portfolio of private-sector development projects.
  • Strengthen existing client relationships while supporting targeted business development and work-winning activity.
  • Lead major commissions, ensuring quality, consistency, commercial rigour and strong client engagement.
  • Oversee team performance, mentoring senior cost managers and building capability within the consultancy.
  • Shape service offerings, resource planning, fee proposals and commercial strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Support internal operations including financial performance, governance and strategic planning.
  • Represent the consultancy as a trusted advisor in senior client and design-team forums.
  • Help drive the evolution and growth of the business while maintaining the firm’s boutique, partner-led ethos.
Required Experience & Background
  • Strong experience at Director or Partner level within a cost consultancy, ideally with an SME or mid-tier consultancy background.
  • Proven track record delivering private-sector projects such as commercial, residential, mixed-use or commercial refurbishment schemes.
  • Demonstrable experience developing client relationships, securing repeat work and shaping business development strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior decision-makers and lead high-value commissions.
  • Experience managing and mentoring quantity surveying teams within a consultancy environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; MRICS essential.
  • Highly credible and polished in client-facing environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a growth-focused SME setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on project leadership.
What’s On Offer
  • A senior leadership position within a respected, growing SME consultancy.
  • Genuine influence over business growth, strategic direction and client development.
  • Clear progression towards equity/ownership for the right individual.
  • Opportunity to shape and elevate the London project portfolio.
  • Competitive Partner-level remuneration with a transparent bonus and uplift structure.
