Job summary

English National Ballet is seeking a Participation Officer to join our Engagement team. This role provides essential administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth delivery of learning, participation and community work.

You will work on programs including youth dance, schools engagement, community projects, events and workshops, coordinating timetables, liaising with freelance artists, and helping evaluate impact across London and touring activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing administrative services in a busy office, ideally in a dance/arts/education setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal/external contacts.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside core hours and at weekends.
  • Interest in dance and youth/community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate timetables, term dates and logistics for classes, youth and community projects.
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for freelance artists, coordinating schedules and processing contracts.
  • Source and book studio space and verify health and safety for spaces and venues.
  • Administer booking systems, create registers and track attendance for evaluation.
  • Respond to enquiries from parents, adult students, schools, venues and partners.
  • Support events and workshops, handling spaces, timings and safety as ENB representative.
  • Collect data, set up surveys and compile feedback for reports.
  • Support designated projects in line with project goals.

About the role

English National Ballet is seeking a Participation Officer to join our Engagement team. This role provides essential administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth delivery of English National Ballet’s learning, participation and community work.

Working with colleagues across the Engagement team, you will support a varied portfolio of programmes, including youth dance, schools’ engagement, career insights initiatives, community projects, London and touring events, digital content, children’s ballet outreach, and classes for children and adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate timetables, term dates and logistics for classes, youth and community projects and programmes.
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for freelance artists, coordinating schedules, circulating briefs and processing contracts.
  • Source and book studio space and verify health and safety compliance for external dance spaces and community venues.
  • Administer booking systems, create registers and track attendance data for evaluation.
  • Respond to enquiries from parents, adult students, schools, venues and community partners.
  • Support the delivery of events and workshops, including preparing spaces, overseeing timings, supporting associate artists and ensuring health and safety requirements are followed as the ENB representative.
  • Collect data, set up surveys and compile feedback, case studies and information for reports and internal reviews.
  • Support designated projects in line with agreed project goals.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Experience of providing an administrative service in a busy office environment within a dance, arts or education organisation.
  • A keen interest in dance and youth and community engagement.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload in order to manage volume and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers and other internal and external contacts
  • Willingness and ability to work outside core hours and at weekends as required.
