Job summary

Kinetic plc in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a part-time Welding Engineer to provide expert welding engineering support across turbine manufacturing, repair, overhaul, and field services.

You will ensure welding processes, procedures, personnel and documentation meet internal, statutory and customer requirements, driving safety, quality and complete technical traceability; travel to UK and international sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience in welding, materials, mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• Practical experience developing or applying WPS and PQR/WPQR documentation and supporting welder qualifications.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy, consumables, heat treatment, distortion control and defect prevention.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, standards, codes and customer specifications.
• Willingness and ability to travel to UK and international sites when required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and approve welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQR) and supporting technical documentation within delegated authority.
• Provide technical guidance on welding processes, materials, consumables, weldability, heat treatment and repair methods.
• Interpret applicable codes, standards, drawings and customer specifications, supporting engineering changes, deviations and non-conformances.
• Welding engineering and technical governance across turbine manufacturing, repair and field-service activities, including international sites.
