Job summary

Sir Alexander Fleming Primary School and Nursery is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our teaching staff and foster a positive learning environment for all pupils. The role combines 27.5 hours with an additional 5 hours as the LTS, totaling 32.5 hours per week, at Scale 2 (£13.69 per hour).

It is a fixed-term contract, starting October 2026, with opportunities for professional development and a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Has a genuine passion for working with children.
• Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is patient, reliable, and highly motivated.
• Ideally has prior experience in a school setting or relevant qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with class teachers to support the delivery of high-quality lessons.
• Assist individual students or small groups with their learning, including those with additional needs.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Support students’ emotional, social, and educational development.
• Assist with classroom preparation, displays, and administrative tasks.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities (e.g., playtime, lunchtime supervisor).
