Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is advertising an external vacancy for a support worker to assist an individual with ADHD and Dyspraxia to live independently. The role offers 6 hours per week across Monday, Wednesday and Friday with times to be agreed. DBS/reference checks are required and the council provides the Direct Payments Support Service.

The pay is £13.50 per hour when employed and £19.00 per hour if self-employed. This is an external vacancy not employment with the council.

Qualifications

• Must be motivated, proactive and able to work on own initiative.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
• Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
• Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
• Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.

Responsibilities

• Providing prompts and encouragement to maintain personal care routines.
• Supporting with household tasks and maintaining a safe home environment.
• Assisting with meal planning, food shopping and meal preparation.
• Supporting with organising and managing paperwork.
• Supporting access to the community, including shopping and local activities.
• Providing support and encouragement when using public transport.
• Assisting the individual to attend important appointments where required.
• Promoting independence and supporting the individual to achieve their personal goals.
