Job summary

The Cavan Bakery is seeking a part-time Stock Controller to keep our bakery and retail outlets supplied, organized and running smoothly. You will oversee storage, movement of bakery products, ingredients and supplies, ensuring stock is available, rotated and handled safely using FIFO.

This role suits someone who is organised, practical and detail-focused, able to lift up to 16 kg and stand for extended periods, and capable of working closely with bakery management to support production and shop

Qualifications

• Stock control and inventory management experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.

• As Stock Controller, you will play an important role in keeping our bakery and retail shops supplied, organised and running smoothly.
• You will oversee the storage, organisation and movement of bakery products, ingredients and supplies, helping ensure stock is available when needed and handled safely.

• You will work closely with bakery management and colleagues to support production, replenish retail shops, reduce waste and maintain the smooth flow of goods throughout the business.

• Strengthen your stock management skills by receiving, checking, storing and rotating products using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Build your understanding of inventory accuracy by tracking stock levels, recording product movements, carrying out physical stock checks and reporting discrepancies.
• Develop your operational knowledge by supporting deliveries, goods-in procedures, shop replenishment and the efficient movement of supplies.

• Ensure products and ingredients are stored correctly, rotated effectively and checked so that expired items are not kept on site.
• Support accurate stock reporting and monitor stock use and waste across our shops.
• Keep storage areas clean, organised and hygienic, following food safety and health and safety requirements.
• Help ensure deliveries are received in good condition and supplies reach the right teams at the right time.

• Is organised, reliable and attentive to detail.
• Can manage time effectively and work independently when required.
• Takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and well-organised storage areas.
• Works well with bakery colleagues and management and communicates clearly.
• Is comfortable with a physically active role, including lifting and carrying products weighing up to 16 kg and standing for extended periods.

Skills & ExperienceYou may have experience in:

• A warehouse, stock control, inventory or bakery-related role.
• Receiving, storing, rotating or checking stock.
• Food safety, hygiene and safe working practices.
• Keeping records accurately and identifying stock discrepancies.

Previous experience is preferred, along with knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. We value a positive attitude, attention to detail and a willingness to work as part of the team.

Work Environment & Reporting

This is a fast-paced, physically demanding role that includes working in temperature-controlled storage areas, moving goods and standing for extended periods. The role reports to the Finance Director.
