Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Direct Payment Worker to support a child with special needs. The role involves assisting with medication and personal care, enabling activities and social engagement, and providing consistent supervision and emotional support.

Term-time 2 days per week (Mon included) with flexible holiday hours up to 12 hours/week. Travel across East Riding may be required. DBS clearance is mandatory and cost borne by the council.

Qualifications

• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to support them.
• Flexible to meet the needs of the family.
• Knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with medication and personal care.
• Encourage the recipient to engage in activities and improve social skills.
• Settle and support the child and keep them safe in the community.
• Attend and transport to social activities and appointments.
• Provide emotional support and promote inclusion.
