Job summary

Inspiring Search is seeking a part-time Solicitor to join our in-house legal team in the energy sector. The role focuses on supporting Commercial and Credit Control Directors with regulatory compliance, contracts, and project work.

The successful candidate will handle complex regulatory and contractual matters, liaise with internal teams and external counsel, and maintain robust governance and filing systems while progressing professional development.

Qualifications

• Law degree (LLB or equivalent) or completed GDL.
• Experience in an in-house legal team or law firm, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or utilities.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and manage commercial contracts and agreements.
• Provide legal research and support on regulatory and compliance matters.
• Assist with due diligence and document management.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required.
• Support legal team with project-related documentation and governance.
• Maintain filing systems and confidentiality of information.
• Provide formal legal advice and take responsibility for case outcomes.
• Lead negotiations with opposing counsel or third parties.
• Keep up to date with industry-specific legal updates.

The Role:

The successful candidate will support the Commercial and Credit Control Directors and wider business on a range of matters including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and energy-related projects.

This role offers exposure to complex legal issues in a fast-paced and evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and manage commercial contracts and agreements
• Provide legal research and support on regulatory and compliance matters
• Assist with due diligence and document management
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required
• Support legal team with project-related documentation and corporate governance
• Maintain legal filing systems and ensure confidentiality of information
• Provide formal legal advice and take full legal responsibility for case outcomes.
• Lead negotiations with opposing counsel or third parties
• Maintain qualifications and keep up to date with industry-specific legal updates

Requirements:

• Law degree (LLB or equivalent) or completed GDL
• Prior experience in an in-house legal team or law firm, preferably within the energy, infrastructure, or utilities sector
• Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management tools

Familiarity with UK energy regulation and commercial contract law
