Itchyfeet Recruitment Agency’s client seeks a part-time Shop Assistant to join their retail team in Guernsey. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service and helping customers select products to meet their needs.

The job is permanent, 7 hours weekly, Saturdays 09:30 to 17:00, with flexibility for mid-week holiday cover or sickness/emergency shifts. Key duties include assisting customers, replenishing stock, keeping the shop clean and safe, handling the till and payments, and

Qualifications

• Reliability and responsibility across tasks.
• Present yourself well with confident, clear communication.

• Friendly, approachable demeanor with a sales-driven approach.
• Ability to work in a team and independently when needed.
• Understand till operations and payment methods, including refunds/discounts.
• Desirable: health-conscious mindset and interest in nutrition.
• Retail experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product choices and advise as required.
• Replenish stock on shop shelves after sales.
• Keep the shop clean and floor dry; maintain tidiness.
• Set up flood defence barriers at day end when needed.
• Engage in product training and monthly quizzes to boost knowledge.
• Ensure till has adequate change and stock is stored to keep floor clear.
• Report issues or price discrepancies to the relevant person.
• Manage cashing up procedures at the end of the day.
