Part-time Service Charge Accountant - Central London

OUR CLIENT is an established real estate investment trust specializing in alternative real estate. With over 20 years of experience, they continue to grow through new investment and development opportunities across the UK. Due to this growth, they are seeking a Service Charge Accountant responsible for managing service charges of their portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparing annual service charge reconciliations comparing actual expenditure to budgets.
• Posting and correcting accruals, prepayments, and ad hoc journals.
• Ensuring all invoices and credit notes issued to tenants are accurately accounted for.
• Liaising with Facility and Property Management teams to agree and reconcile service charges, including posting necessary adjustments.
• Reconciling balancing charges or credits to service charge control balances.
• Completing service charge control account reconciliation using the provided template and seeking approval before finalizing year-end reconciliation.
• Managing the portfolio, progressing accounts to closure, and issuing reconciliations to tenants along with any balancing charges or credits within RICS guidelines where possible.
• Coordinating with Accounts Receivable to issue balancing charges or credits promptly once service charges are closed.
• Advising Accounts Receivable on issuing ad-hoc charges when applicable.
• Handling tenant queries related to service charge reconciliation.
• Preparing initial drafts of annual service charge budgets.
• Liaising with Facility and Property Managers to agree and finalize the service charge budget.
• Ensuring on-account charges reflect the finalized budget.
• Issuing budget reports to tenants.
• Performing other ad-hoc tasks as required by the team.
