Fletcher George is seeking a Part-Time Senior Accountant for a growing independent practice in the Woking area. The role offers genuine flexibility—three full days per week or equivalent hours—and hybrid working.

You will prepare statutory and management accounts, review bookkeeping and VAT, support year-end tax work, and manage a portfolio of SME clients with direct client contact and autonomy. The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist), or an experienced practice

Qualifications

• Experience in a Chartered Accountants or accountancy practice
• ACA/ACCA qualification or finalist status, or substantial experience as a qualified-by-experience accountant
• Ability to manage client relationships and respond to queries
• Good knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105

Responsibilities

• Prepare management accounts and review bookkeeping records
• Prepare and review VAT returns

Part-Time Senior Accountant – Woking, Surrey

£45,000–£53,000 FTE, pro rata | Three Days per Week or Flexible Hours | Hybrid Working

Fletcher George is recruiting a Part-Time Senior Accountant for a growing independent accountancy practice in the Woking area.

This opportunity offers genuine flexibility and can be structured as three full days per week or equivalent hours arranged across the working week to suit the successful candidate. Hybrid working is also available.

The role would suit an ACA or ACCA-qualified Accountant, a late-stage studier or an experienced Practice Accountant who is qualified by experience. You will join a modern and supportive Surrey accountancy firm offering varied client work, direct client contact and considerable autonomy.

You will work with a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SMEs, preparing statutory and management accounts, reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns, supporting year-end tax work and helping clients with their ongoing accounting requirements.

The Part-Time Senior Accountant Role

This is a broad, hands-on position combining accounts preparation, portfolio management, review work and regular client interaction.

Working closely with the firm’s senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for your own client relationships while also providing guidance and support to junior colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies under FRS 102 and FRS 105
• Preparing management accounts and reviewing bookkeeping records
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
• Supporting year-end tax compliance work
• Managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients
• Acting as a key point of contact for client queries
• Building strong and trusted relationships with clients
• Reviewing work and supporting junior members of the team
• Contributing to workflow management and the continued development of internal processes

About You

You will have:

• Previous experience within a firm of Chartered Accountants or accountancy practice
• Strong statutory accounts preparation experienceAn ACA or ACCA qualification, finalist-level status or substantial experience as a qualified-by-experience Accountant
• The confidence to manage client relationships and respond directly to queries
• Good knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105
• A supportive and collaborative approach when working with junior colleagues
• An interest in building a long-term career with a friendly and growing firm

Working Pattern

The firm is happy to consider different part-time working arrangements, including:

• Three full days per week
• Equivalent part-time hours spread across four or five days
• A working pattern agreed around the successful candidate’s circumstances
• Hybrid working, with an appropriate balance of office and home-based work

Salary and Benefits

• Full-time equivalent salary of £45,000–£53,000, pro rata for the agreed hours
