Job summary

Vertas is seeking a School Chef to join our catering team at Misson Primary, DN10 6EB. You will lead the kitchen, preparing nutritious meals and delivering great service for pupils and staff. The role runs Monday to Friday, 09:00–13:30, 22.5 hours per week across 39.2 weeks per year.

Candidates should have school or commercial kitchen experience, strong leadership and knowledge of food safety and allergens, with the right to work in the UK. Pay rate is £13.77 per hour.

• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and health and safety requirements.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving high quality meals.
• Managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation.
• Managing stock levels, ordering and budget controls.
• Leading and supporting kitchen colleagues.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Delivering excellent customer service to pupils, staff and visitors.
