Job summary

REAch2 Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook for Aqueduct Academy's catering team. You will support the Catering Manager to prepare healthy meals for children and staff, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety in a school environment.

The role includes assisting with meal preparation, following menus, supervising lunchtime staff, and possibly assisting with special functions. Part-time hours are 9:30am–13:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• To provide assistance with preparation, cooking and service of food to the required standard.
• To follow menu plans and assist with service on the section you are responsible for.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with preparation, cooking and service of meals to the required standard.
• Follow menu plans agreed with the Catering Manager for lunch service on your section.
• Deputise for the Catering Manager as required.
• Supervise other kitchen staff during lunch service.
• Follow the menu and recipes as directed.
• Occasionally assist with special functions outside of normal hours.
• Carry out cleaning duties within kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow sound hygiene practices and health and safety regulations.
• Assist with issuing and recording catering supplies.
• Assist with control procedures.
• Report accidents, fire, theft, loss, or unfit food immediately and take appropriate action.
