Job summary

River Academy, part of Maiden Erlegh Trust, is seeking a Catering Assistant to support food preparation, cooking and service, and to maintain high standards of cleanliness in kitchens and dining areas. The role reports to the Trust Catering Manager and School Chef, and involves ensuring a safe, welcoming catering service for students and staff.

The post is part-time (16 hours/week) with term-time style planning, starting ASAP after 1st September.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or relevant experience.
• Food Hygiene qualification or willingness to undertake training.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with students, colleagues and visitors.
• Ability to organise workload and prioritise tasks with attention to detail.
• Understanding of appropriate behaviour when working with children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and service of food.
• Serve food in a friendly and professional manner.
• Wash up kitchen equipment and tableware.
• Clean kitchen equipment, dining areas and kitchen premises to required standards.
• Support the supervision of students in the dining area.
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety and Trust procedures at all times.
• Undertake any other relevant duties as requested by the school.
