Job summary

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is advertising for a Catering Assistant at Giles Academy in Boston. The role is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 10.30am–14.30pm, in a busy school kitchen environment.

You will assist with meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining food safety and health & safety standards. An enhanced DBS check is required; closing date is 8am 9th November 2026.

Qualifications

• Fast-paced, busy school kitchen experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake on/off the job training.
• Follow Food Safety and Health & Safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals and beverages in accordance with recipes/methods.
• Assist in serving meals and maintaining counter presentation, providing polite service to customers.
• Prepare dining area for service.
• Assist in storage and rotation of stock and keep food areas clean and tidy.
• Wash and clear away equipment, utensils and crockery after use.
• Take and record temperatures before and during service as required.
• Report faults or defects to the Director of Catering.
• Operate the in-house cashless catering system.
• Daily cleaning of all catering areas per schedule.
