Job summary

Five Acres High School is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to join its supportive school kitchen team. The role involves general kitchen duties, helping prepare and serve meals, and ensuring food service runs smoothly during busy periods.

You will work on site with a friendly team, follow hygiene and health and safety guidelines, and attend training as required. A GCSE level education, good numeracy and literacy, and a food hygiene qualification are desirable; flexibility to cover shift

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent education.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Food hygiene qualification; training provided if required.
• Experience in a busy school kitchen is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• General duties in kitchen, canteen, hub, and the 10 block.
• Assist in preparation and cooking of school meals.
• Assist with service presentation and till system use (full training provided).
• Assist with cleaning of kitchen equipment and areas.
• Attend training courses and meetings as required.
• Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met.
• Secure the kitchen at end of shift.
