Job summary

Bristol Waste Company is seeking a part-time Reuse Shop Assistant at our Hartcliffe site to help divert good condition items from the waste stream and sell them to customers. You will deliver friendly, professional service, operate the till, price and merchandise items, and support stock rotation.

The role is 15 hours per week (Wednesday–Sunday 11am–2pm) with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour. Benefits include a health plan, Cycle to Work scheme and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a customer-facing or retail environment.
• Basic numeracy, literacy and cash handling skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Reliable with good time management and attendance.
• Awareness of health and safety requirements in retail.
• Awareness of reuse, recycling and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service by providing a welcoming, inclusive and professional experience for customers, volunteers and visitors.
• Operate the point-of-sale system accurately, processing cash and card payments while maintaining records and following procedures.
• Process reusable items for sale: checking, cleaning, pricing, merchandising and stock rotation.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and presentation to provide a safe, attractive retail environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers, providing day-to-day support and contributing to team performance.
• Comply with health and safety requirements and report hazards or incidents to maintain a safe environment.
• Work with Bristol Waste Company policies and IMS, contributing to continuous improvement.
