Job summary

The Sunday Mail, part of Reach, is seeking a skilled Production Editor for a permanent, part-time role in Glasgow. The position focuses on overseeing the print edition, laying out pages, crafting headlines and guiding a subs team to deliver content to tight deadlines.

The role is hub-based in Glasgow, with 2 days per week (Fridays 10am-6pm and Saturdays 10am-8:30pm). Reach offers a broad benefits package and a supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• You are a highly experienced print production journalist.
• Demonstrable experience in a national or large regional print environment.
• Ability to guide and lead a team of subs across a newsroom.
• Proven skill in drawing pages and writing headlines accurately.

Responsibilities

• Play a central role in the production of the Sunday Mail.
• Lay out pages and spreads, write headlines, select stories, allocate work.
• Revise pages to meet high standards and deadlines.
• Liaise with production editors across the group to ensure content sharing.
• Fill wings and anchors with suitable stories; source gaps from other papers or wires.
• Direct subs and production team on story handling and edits.
• Complete tasks in line with IPSO, legal and budget requirements.
